Eco-Tourism
RASTA Guesthouse is situated amongst, and directly associated with, RASTA. The Rural Agency for Social and Technological Advancement (RASTA) has been working in Kerala since 1987.
RASTA focuses on marginalized people in our society, like indigenous people, small farmers, women and children, as well as the preservation of our rich and diverse nature. By choosing to stay at RASTA Guesthouse you will be directly contributing to RASTA and the projects they run.
You will have the opportunity to see the benefits of RASTA’s work by visiting a rural tribal community where RASTA has installed solar panels into homes. You will also be able to spend meal times with the staff and volunteers and find out about their work.
Accommodation
RASTA Guesthouse is a standalone building that contains three bedrooms. The rooms are connected by an open foyer and a small, shared lounge area.
As a guest, you will have use of communal areas that are shared by the RASTA staff and volunteers. These include a newly renovated work, study and chill-out room, a yoga & meditation hall and the mess hall where all meals are served. You can access the shared spaces throughout the day, use the fridge to store your food, and buy snacks from the small store. Free WI-FI is available during the RASTA office hours.

Double Room with Ensuite
A cosy double bedroom with a private bathroom. The facilities are homely, clean and basic. The private bathroom includes a Western toilet, hot running water and a bucket for self washing. The beds can be split into two single beds should you require. Bedding is provided. Towels and tea-making facilities can be added upon request.

Village Tour – A guided walk around the rural area. Encompassing the local temple and river. You will be able to see farming land developed by RASTA and enjoy traditional mid-morning snacks.
Visit RASTA Solar Projects – A chance to view remote tribal homes where RASTA have installed solar panels to give people a sustainable source of electricity.
Wider Wayanad – We can also arrange for you to visit the many tourist attractions in Wayanad. Whether you want to visit the 5000 year old Thirunelli Temple, spot wild animals in the national parks or hike the breath-taking Chembra Peak, we can provide the experience.
Location
Devaki’s Kitchen Guesthouse is located on a quiet, rural road. It is a 15 minute walk to the local village, Kambalakkad. It is possible to buy all your necessities in Kambalakkad and there are also ATM machines.
There is plenty of local transportation available that connects us to the surrounding villages, as well as to larger cities.
To get to Devaki’s Kitchen Guesthouse you can take a bus to Kambalakkad and either walk or hire a rickshaw (about 40 INR) to our door. Alternatively you can get a rickshaw from Kalpetta for around 180 INR.
